Launching and landing your Sea-Doo in a crowded boat ramp can be challenging, especially if you're new to it. However, with these tips, you can successfully launch your Sea-Doo PWC regardless of the crowd. Get Familiar With the Water

It's best to get an overview of the waterways before even visiting the launch site. With the advancement of technology, you can use Google maps and satellite views to survey the launch site. This way, you can get a rough idea of what to expect when you arrive. You also need to understand the rules of the waterway before leaving shore. These laws vary from one body of water to another. Make sure to understand all the hazards, no-wake rules, and other regulations related to the specific waterway. 

Before You Leave for the Boat Launch

You need to adequately prepare before launching your boat to make sure the process is efficient. It's best to prepare as often as possible before embarking on your planned adventure. Take this time to check your Sea-Doo PWCs, so you'll know it's working properly. Here is a checklist:

  1. Start the watercraft to ensure the battery is charged and the engine is operating optimally.
  2. Check the fuel level.
  3. Make sure you carry your personal flotation devices (PFDs).
  4. Check your watercraft's plug. Remember to review the laws related to watercraft transportation.
  5. Ensure that your anchors, bumpers, and dock lines are easily accessible for launching and docking.

Boat Launch Etiquette

Once you arrive at the launch site, you need to exercise patience. Take time to review everything related to your watercraft. Here are a few things to take care of:

  • Remove the covers and tie-down straps.
  • Check if your plug is inserted correctly.
  • Safely store your gear and other equipment.
  • Fit the dock lines needed for launching.

Launching Your Watercraft

When an opportunity to launch your boat opens, don't rush. Take your time, and take these steps to avoid mistakes or accidents:

  1. Use one lane to back down the ramp onto the water.
  2. Gently back the craft into the water until it starts to float.
  3. Make sure your passenger grabs the dock lines and unhooks the winch line from the front of the Sea-Doo.
  4. Once you are safely on water, secure the watercraft to the dock away from the launch. This way, you can give others a chance to use the ramp.

Landing Your Watercraft

Once you are done enjoying your water-based activity, it's time to retrieve your Sea-Doo. Here are a few tips to consider.

  • Once you get to the dock, send one person to get the tow vehicle.
  • Take one lane when backing up the trailer to load the watercraft.
  • Connect the winch strap to the tow eye in front of the watercraft, and crank it completely to the trailer.
  • Drive your vehicle off the ramp, and park safely.
  • Store your gear and wipe down the watercraft.
